Happy Dependent on God Day

Dear Friend,

The Fourth of July is celebrated every year in the USA as a Declaration of Independence—the birth of our nation. We need to hold that dear to our hearts knowing that freedom truly comes with a price. However, we should always be dependent on our Lord Jesus, because if we didn’t have Him, we wouldn’t have anything worth having, which is true freedom.

I like what Psalm 103:1-6 says:

Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.

And then verse 8 says: The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

I think the Lord has gone far above anything we can even begin to imagine. He gave us the freedom to choose. Verse 12 says: As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Praise God!

Jeremiah 33:1 says that the Lord spoke to the prophet while he was in prison, saying, Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not (Jeremiah 33:3).

I find this pretty amazing that no matter what’s going on in our lives, as long as we call out to God, He will move on our behalf. Now that’s freedom! Our Father is a loving and merciful God. Amen. We can be free no matter what the world says because Jesus made a way for us. So many times we struggle, and we don’t always think about all of the provisions He has made for us.

I remember reading the Book of Acts and being in awe about how Paul and Silas prayed and worshiped at midnight, and suddenly, the prison doors were opened:

And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.

Act 16:25,26

Please try to always remember that Jesus is our Freedom. Let’s agree that every captive is freed in Jesus’ Name. We can celebrate our Day of Independence because we are dependent on God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. God bless you.

In His love,

Donner Roberson
