Changing Attitude to Gratitude

Dear Friend,

Here it is November. Time seems to be passing so fast. I’ll soon be seventy years old, and mentally, I really don’t feel that age.

The Lord has been very gracious with me. His love and mercy have seen me through some hard places in my life. Without Him, I know for sure there wouldn’t be the peace I feel.

The other day, I was feeling downright grumpy. Levi, bless his heart, told me so. I thought of all the reasons I had to justify my grumpiness, and it rose up in my spirit, Why don’t you change your attitude into gratitude? (I’m smiling.)

I started taking note of all the wonderful things the Lord has done for me. He has given me children who love me, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who love me. He has given me friends who have stuck by me through thick and thin, who actually pray for me to succeed in our Lord. I am truly blessed beyond measure. I have the most valuable treasures anyone could possibly have.

Every October, we have a conference at my brother’s church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This conference, I got to spend time with people whom I love and respect, and so many came and shared the love of God. It was awesome. They really touched my heart. So many of them had come through storms—natural storms and emotional storms—yet they wanted to be sure I was okay. It was a good example of Philippians 2:1-5:

If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

It all began with Jesus, who loved us so much, He came to earth and became human. It amazes me the love that it took for Him to leave Heaven to do that for us.

Through the love of God, so many people brought me comfort—praying for me and my family. I’m thanking God for all of you. So when I start feeling grumpy, as Levi says (I’m still smiling about that), I change my attitude to gratitude. Glory to God.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38,39

Jesus is with us through thick and thin. He will never leave us or forsake us.

Have a blessed and wonderful Thanksgiving Day. Please share a meal with someone who doesn’t have family close by. With a grateful heart, thank you.

In His love,

Donner Roberson
