Our Approval Comes From the Lord

Dear Friend,

Even though there’s a spiritual war raging, I’ve experienced another level of peace. The Lord has been so faithful. I feel so bad for people who are tormented with fear, anxiety, insecurities, and the list goes on. I know what that feels like, and I’m so glad Jesus brought me out of it.

I think one of the greatest days in my life was coming to the place where I no longer needed other people’s approval. What freedom that was for me. I found I loved people even more knowing I had the approval of God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

The truth is, when we’re doing the best we know how to follow and obey God’s instructions, He approves of us.

Understanding this, I don’t compare myself to or wish that I was like other ministers. I want to pattern myself after Jesus!

Sometimes I think about Saul in the Old Testament, who was made king and saw the mighty works of God, yet he feared the opinion of people. First Samuel 15:24 says: And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice. Sadly, Saul lost everything because he didn’t follow God like he should have.

When we’re constantly striving for man’s approval, we think we have to take on and carry everything. But we’re not equipped for that. Thank God Jesus did it for us—then He left us His peace: John 14:27 says: Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. That sounds like we have a choice to keep our heart in peace.

Jesus also says in John 16:33: These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

The Lord has given us instructions via the Bible; however, most of the time they’re ignored or His Word gets stolen from us, because like Saul, we fear what people may think. Thank God His grace is here to exchange our weakness for His strength. I’m so glad He loves us so much!

The devil has been defeated!!! We don’t have to worry or wonder if we’re going to make it. We made it the moment we accepted Jesus as our Lord. His peace which passes all understanding is ours: And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

I know the devil is good at what he does, but Jesus is greater. The biggest thing Satan wants to do is cause us to lose hope and lose our confidence in God. We can’t let that happen. We need to remind ourselves what First John 3:20-22 says:

For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

I like the love, peace, and joy of the Lord. He wants us to be free, to call upon Him with great confidence, and expect an answer. Amen.

In His love,

Donner Roberson
