God’s Love Changes Hearts

Dear Friend,

During the last few months, I’m seeing more and more how faithful our Father is. He is so loving and longsuffering. The fact that He loves us is wonderful.

I’ve often wondered about the years of the Civil War in the United States, if seeing brother against brother tore God apart.

I know being a mom how hard it would be to take sides in a situation involving those I love. I could only judge the situation by honest facts. That’s where the Bible comes in.

You see, as Christians, we can’t agree with things or people going contrary to the Word, no matter how much we love them. And during this election season, there has been so much strife that it’s plain to see how prayer isn’t what people are using their mouths for. Yet, the Bible says to pray for all of those in authority!

I’ve also noticed how much people are attacking one another on Facebook. My question is, Why? The Lord has given us powerful instructions on how to behave and how to pray. Jesus loves us, and we need to show His love even if we don’t agree with one another’s agenda.

James 3:16 says, For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. Can you imagine what’s included in every evil work? That covers a lot of things. Now verse 17 says, But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Jesus is still the Head of the Church, and He loves us. I know I want to pattern myself after Him as I’m sure we all want to. This is my prayer for all of us from Ephesians 1:17,18:

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

God’s love hasn’t changed. When we don’t agree with other people, we don’t have to get ugly about it. Remember, Jesus loves them too. He doesn’t like it when we’re hurt, and He doesn’t like it when we hurt others.

I know the truth itself can hurt at times, but the truth should always be presented in love. In the days that are coming, let’s make sure God’s love shines through us. His love will change the hearts of more people than hate-filled accusations.

In His love,

Donner Roberson
