The Bible Tells Us to Pray for Our Leaders

Dear Friend,

I’ve been thinking and praying a lot about our nation. There has been so much turmoil with the upcoming elections and with the violence displayed in the past few years, not only in our country but other countries as well. My heart goes out to the families and friends who have lost loved ones.

There are always casualties in a war, and right now, we’re in a war with Satan—and his biggest weapon is deception. He has deceived many churches into agreeing with sin, and this in itself has weakened our great nation.

Everyday people are arguing on Facebook about guns and the election—bashing each other and bickering instead of doing what the Scripture tells us to do in First Timothy 2:1-5:

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior;

Who will have all men to be saved, and come into the knowledge of the truth.

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

Praying for our leaders is what the Bible says to do, but it’s so sad that we see very little of it going on. It would be wonderful if we lived in a perfect world in complete harmony, but obviously, this isn’t how it is. We live in a fallen world, a world full of deception and violence and perversity.

Nowadays, I really don’t know how anyone can survive without Jesus. But the fact that He loved us and died for us in a fallen state shows the depth of His love.

I’m grateful that we live in a country where we can openly worship Jesus. We should not take this for granted. If we don’t keep praying for our leaders, our nation and the world will change for the worst. A big price was paid for our freedom, plus our country helps other countries fight for freedom. I’m pretty sure the Jews were glad during the Holocaust that we didn’t come with lollipops and candy bars! One of my uncles died in World War II fighting for freedom, and I am so proud of him.

Romans 12:18 says: If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. That should be our heart and our hope, and that is why it’s so important to pray! Let’s pray for our nation, the lost, the hurting, and let Jesus know we love and appreciate what He has done for us. Hallelujah!

Have a great 4th of July holiday. Celebrate your freedom!!! Give God all of the glory! God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are waiting on us to speak the Word and pray. Their amazing love will see us through every battle.

In His love,

Donner Roberson
