Don’t Underestimate the Devil

Dear Friend,

Above all things, I wish you happiness, love, and peace. Through all the trials that we go through, if we remain focused on the Lord, peace and joy will come. The thief who comes to steal, kill, and destroy comes through unforgiveness, hurt, and anger. The devil is very good at what he does, so do not, I repeat, do not underestimate him! The one thing Satan doesn’t understand is how we can continue to praise, love, and trust the Lord after he attacks so hard. He just doesn’t get that God is greater than our problem.

When you’re going through a trial, find a scripture that says something like Psalm 27:6: And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.

God sure does love us a lot, and trusting Him is one of the keys to peace. Psalm 5:11 says: But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. Love, peace, and joy are powerful weapons against the enemy. Unfortunately, we don’t use them enough.

The devil laughs every time we yield to backbiting, bigotry, unforgiveness, bitterness, and judging people when we don’t know what’s really in their heart. Ephesians 4:31 says: Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice. Each one of these things will completely drag you down if you allow them to live in you, and it will affect the people around you too.

Hebrews 12:15 says:  Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled. It’s not an easy task when the enemy uses people to hurt you, especially people you love.

Proverbs 18:21 says: Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. It’s a choice to love or hate. I’m choosing to love. I don’t want to be anyone’s judge or critic, because Jesus loves them, and if we’re to follow in His footsteps, we’ll forgive and love them with a Godly love. I will not rejoice when people who have hurt me get hurt. But I will rejoice when Satan’s crops fail. Amen.

The Apostle Paul says in Romans 12:9,10,19:

Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

I search my heart on a regular basis because I am human and sometimes I do get angry, but I try hard not to let anything that would separate me from God live in me. Jesus paid too high of a price for me to hold on to hurt, anger, and pain.

My prayer is that we can all enter into the fullness of God’s love—that every hurt and disappointment is healed in Jesus’ Name.

In His love,
