God Can Take What Was Intended for Evil and Turn It to Good

Dear Friend,

I’ve got to say, I’ve recently gone through one of the hardest times, yet one of the best times I’ve ever had. I will forever be amazed at the love and mercy our precious Lord has given us. He can and will take what was intended for evil and turn it to good just like He did for Joseph.

In Genesis, Joseph’s brothers tried to destroy him, but Joseph forgave them and said: But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive (Genesis 50:20).

No matter what Satan intends, God can and will turn it to good. I saw this for myself concerning the circumstances in the death of my daughter Hannah on July 26, 2017 at 9:27 a.m.

A few days before, my daughter was in a single car accident. She lost control of the car and hit a telephone pole. The accident happened on July 21st, but because she didn’t have an ID on her, I didn’t get the call until Saturday, July 22nd.

My ex son-in-law Matt was notified, and he called me. He and I keep in touch because he’s raising Brooke—Hannah’s daughter and my granddaughter. Matt is a good man, and I know he tried hard to make the marriage work. However, Hannah, bless her heart, struggled hard with drugs. My last conversation with Hannah was in June of 2016. It went like this:

“Mom, I slipped this time. It’s heroin.”

And I said, “Honey, I don’t care what it is. You’re my daughter, and I love you. Please get help. I don’t want to have to bury you. No parent should have to bury their children.”

Hannah started crying and asked how Levi was. I said, “He’s good, honey. You gave me a beautiful gift when you gave me Levi.” Again I said, “Please get some help.”

That was the last time I got to speak to Hannah before the accident. When the doctors talked to me about her condition, they said they would keep her on life support until I got there. My daughter Rina made the arrangements and went with me. My son Nick and granddaughter Jamie met us there. The staff at Saint Joseph’s Hospital was wonderful. When I talked to the doctor, he said he didn’t know why Hannah wasn’t dead with the injuries she sustained in the accident. She actually died during a CT scan, but they were able to revive her.

I told the doctor that as a mom, I have always prayed that no child of mine would leave the planet unless they were saved. The doctor said he believed it because Hannah shouldn’t have still been breathing. It was a miracle.

Rina, my oldest daughter, ministered to Brooke who thought Jesus was mad at her mom and couldn’t forgive her. Rina assured Brooke that Jesus would never do that, because He loves Hannah. This brought peace to Brooke.

Brooke is a very extraordinary young lady. Matt and his mom have done a wonderful job raising her.

We all gathered around Hannah and prayed Psalm 23 over her. I asked the Lord that if she received a creative miracle, would she keep her healing and stay off of drugs? He let me know that Hannah wouldn’t stay away from drugs. Her spirit wanted to, but her flesh was weak.

We can’t make people choose good things. But I know Hannah chose Jesus. I felt the peace that passes all understanding as it says in Philippians 4:7: And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

God is so faithful. I wanted more good to come out of this situation, so we decided that Hannah would be an organ donor, and she has given life to someone else. Praise God!

As far as I’m concerned, we all told Brooke that Hannah died a hero. I would like to say thank you to all who have prayed for my family. It makes a difference. And I want to say a special thanks to my daughters Rina and Paula and her husband Lucky for making sure that all of the financial burdens were taken care of and to my son Nick for being supportive.

Hannah would have been 38 years old on Aug 12th. I believe with all of my heart that she’s happier now than she’s ever been. Amen.

My prayer for all of you who have children who are suffering with drug abuse—don’t give up! God will honor your prayers.

But thus saith the Lord, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.

Isaiah 49:25
