We Can Refuse Strife

Dear Friend,

I believe with all of my heart that 2017 is going to bring in some wonderful, positive changes. I’ve been searching my heart because I don’t want to give the devil anything to use against me. I have refused to be in strife even when the people that lend their voice to Him aren’t very nice. Sometimes that isn’t easy, but it can be accomplished with prayer and God’s love.

I guess I rocked the boat a little bit last month when I said I would respect President Trump and the office he holds. I showed respect and prayed for the former presidents as well. I was basing what I said on First Timothy 2:1-4:

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Now, First John 2:9-11 says:

He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.

He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.

But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

The very best people can pray for would be God’s perfect will in their life. People can assume things that aren’t true, they can choose to stay offended, they can say terrible things, and they may think they’re right, but when it’s all said and done, the Word—Jesus—is right.

I will continue to search my heart to make sure I don’t lose sight of God’s love and mercy. Jesus is the Truth. Luke 6:45 says it the best: A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

We need to pray for the peace and restoration of this nation. My heart goes out to all of the people who have been saying horrible things, because in the same way they’re judging others, they will be judged.

Remember always what Galatians 5:22,23 says:

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Hallelujah! God is so good and He loves us so very much.

In His love,

Donner Roberson
