Can You Cast the First Stone?

Dear Friend,

Have you ever sat down and made a list of all the things our Heavenly Father has had mercy on us for? His compassion, love, and mercy have seen me through so many things. The love He displayed sending Jesus says it all. Then He sent the Comforter, the Holy Spirit. God is so good. Amen.

I often wonder how God feels when we don’t show one another the same love and compassion that He has. After all, Jesus lives in us.

I have a Facebook page because my family lives all over the place. I have a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren stationed in Japan, two granddaughters and a son in Washington state, and a daughter and granddaughter in Michigan. Social media is the only way I get to see them regularly. Unfortunately, some of the things that are posted online by “Christians” are a great shame. If I didn’t know Jesus already, I might not want to be a Christian seeing how some of them can be.

There are good things posted online, but the railing that I see many Christians doing against our country, our president, and other political figures is worse than awful. What happened to the love? Our Father loves each one of us, and Jesus died for us all. We’ve all been forgiven of so much so why can’t we follow the pattern of love and forgiveness Jesus set before us?

Everyone has a right to recovery, but when we continue to bash, accuse, and blame everything on the people in public office, we have become part of the problem and not a solution.

John 8:4-10 says:

They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?

This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

Then Jesus tells the woman in verse 11: Go, and sin no more.

How do you think the world views us as Christians when they never see us display love, mercy, or forgiveness? Every one of us—saved and unsaved—will stand before the Lord one day. I would hate to be the cause of someone not coming into the Kingdom because of how I responded in an ungodly way toward people.

Jesus says in Luke 6:37:  Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven.

Please remember always that Jesus died for all of us, and we should be praying for people’s restoration.

It’s never too late to repent. Our Father is quick and just to forgive. Praise God!

For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

Second Corinthians 5:14

Let’s set our heart to pray for our leaders and our country and that all of Satan’s crops fail. Amen.

In His love,

Donner Roberson
