God Gives Us Time to Grow

Dear Friend,

Because of Halloween at the end of the month, I usually write about the witchcraft that runs rampant during October, but the truth is, witchcraft and its effects are around all year long. The greatest weapon against it is the Word of God—telling us what Jesus has to say.

There are a lot of Christians who are quite active in witchcraft, and if you told them they were, they would be horrified because they never even realized. First Samuel 15:23 says: For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king. This was what the prophet Samuel told King Saul, and we see in the Bible how it cost Saul everything to do his “own thing” and rebel against God.

When we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior and we said, “I make you Lord over my life,” that’s when the real battle began! We all go through growing pains, and the Lord doesn’t expect us to mature overnight. However, He does want us to pursue Him wholeheartedly, because when we enter into a relationship with Him built on love and trust, that is when He can teach us how to tame our wild flesh.

As a grandmother, I get a kick out of watching my youngest grandson, Levi, grow. One minute he is all sweet and gentle, and the next minute, he is having a fit because something didn’t go his way or that I had to tell him no. Now at age two, I expect that, but he still gets into trouble for acting out. But at age forty, that kind of behavior would not be acceptable.

I have seen too many adults sulk, throw fits, and then wonder why they’re not where they want to be in their walk with God. The good news is: Our Father loves us, we are His children, and He gives us time to grow. His grace is amazing!

On the other hand, there is a time when we have to put away childish things and grow up in Him, because the best way to finish our course in victory and defeat the devil is to love and forgive and grow in the things of God.

We should always remember that there has never been a day that God didn’t love us. Jesus proved that when He died for us. And the sweet Holy Spirit is here to comfort, teach, and instruct us. We are so blessed!

My prayer is that each and every person fulfills everything he and she is called to do—myself included.

I have a praise report from a friend of mine. His daughter was driving one day and had several passengers in the car with her—one being a seven-year-old girl. The driver felt that she needed to tighten her seatbelt more before they left, which we know was God giving her that feeling. A semi-truck ended up running her off the road at 70 miles per hour, and as the car rolled over, she was saying, “Jesus, help

me!”—and not one of them in the car was injured. Glory to God! That is amazing, and I’m so grateful no one was hurt, amen.

Jesus is alive and well. Satan is defeated, so let’s rejoice like Paul and Silas did in Acts 16:25,26, which says:

And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.

Praise God! He is worthy to be praised. Tell Him how much you love Him. It can and will get you through the darkest hours, and things will change suddenly. God bless you.

In His love,

Donner Roberson
