Opening Up Our Heart to the Lord Makes a Difference

Dear Friend,

Here it is, May already. Can you believe it? I love the month of May. Forty-four years ago, I received a beautiful gift for Mother’s Day—my daughter, Paula. (I’m smiling.) As I am writing this letter, I’m looking across the table at another precious gift: My grandson, Levi, who is now almost two and a half years old. What a blessing! He is amazing and he brings me so much joy. I have four children, a total of six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. I am blessed.

I know there are a lot of single moms out there. For the most part, I was one, and with Levi, I still am. My church family has helped a lot. Levi has a godfather who loves him and treats him like his own flesh and blood.

In John 19:26,27, we read that when Jesus hung on the Cross, His mom was there. How heart wrenching that had to be for her:

When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!

Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

Our Father always makes provision for us. I don’t know how people who do not embrace the Lord survive. I have seen so many good examples in the Body of Christ of His love. I have a friend in New Hampshire who raised five children as a single mom. Not only did she do that, but she also started a Christian school for troubled teenagers so they can get their high school diplomas. Many of the teenagers and their parents became born again because of it. She allowed the Lord to fill in all of the places in her heart. Hallelujah! What a testimony.

There’s also a young couple in Wisconsin who are in the process of adopting children and giving the one child they do have a loving Christian home. If we open up our hearts and our minds, there are so many things we can do to make a difference.

I have a wonderful friend in West Memphis who never had children of her own but became a godmother to several children and helped educate them. She even gave them places to live while they were in school. What a difference she made.

I am praising God for the wonderful women who have opened up their hearts to so many children who would be hurting if it wasn’t for the godly love they displayed. There are too many people to name, but I think all of you godly parents and grandparents warm the heart of God. This is my prayer for you from Numbers 6:24-27:

The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:

The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.

When we raise our children to love and reverence the Lord, we warm His heart. How awesome is that! God bless you and have a wonderful Mother’s Day.

In His love,

Donner Roberson
