Season of New Beginnings

Dear Friend,

I love spring and it’s almost here. The flowers bloom. The grass gets green. It’s wonderful. Spring brings in new beginnings, and everything that was dormant comes to life.

Our Heavenly Father is amazing in how He planned things. I think spring is an appropriate time for celebrating Easter. I can imagine that when Jesus was crucified, the disciples must have thought their hopes and dreams were destroyed. It was even worse for Peter, who had denied Jesus three times the night before: And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly (Matthew 26:75). Peter was devastated and wept bitterly because he thought his plans for the future were lost.

Matthew 27:50-54 describes what happened after Jesus died on the Cross:

Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

I can only imagine how stunned all the witnesses were to see the saints, who had been buried, appearing to them, yet the disciples’ hopes and dreams and the lives that they knew were not over when Jesus died. Matthew 28:5-7 says:

And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

Hallelujah, Jesus has risen! We have such an awesome God.

For three years, the disciples walked with Jesus, ate with Him, cried with Him, and saw countless miracles, yet Matthew 28:16,17 shows that some still struggled to believe:

Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

That’s why Jesus sent His disciples the Comforter, who is the Holy Spirit, to guide us into all truth:

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

John 14:16,17

Glory to God! When you were born again and filled with the Holy Spirit, you became the most blessed person on the planet. Now, you have hope, you have a new beginning, and you have the Holy Spirit to teach you how to trust and love Jesus more every day.

Psalm 100:4 says, Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. Let’s bless the Name of Jesus, and let what He has done for us grow in our hearts. I pray that you have a blessed and wonderful Easter!

In His love,
