Dear Friend,
This month we’re happy to celebrate 250 years of this awesome country. The freedoms we have here should be celebrated. Amen.
Sometimes I hear a lot of grumbling about our country from our own citizens. Sadly, it can cause strife and division. In Scripture, we are instructed to pray for our leaders regardless of which side of the political fence we’re on or which church we belong to. Amen. It’s our country! Praise God. And we need to continue to pray.
I pray that we can become more united in praying for our leaders and for our nation. Our Father would have us to pray for all men and all nations:
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
1 Timothy 2:1-8
This seems pretty clear to me. Our Father, Jesus, and the sweet Holy Spirit need us to cooperate with Them. God gives us a choice—He won’t force us to do the right thing, but I’m sure that He loves it when we do. Amen.
God is not moved by our opinions. He is moved by His Word. So getting angry, pouting, and throwing little tantrums really aren’t going to move God; they actually just make things worse. Therefore, let’s come to our Jesus with a grateful heart. Let’s pray that lost people all over the world can be saved. Amen. And let’s celebrate this 250 years with love and appreciation.
God bless you this Independence Day. Please remember what Second Chronicles 7:14 says: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Amen!
In His love,
