We Have Good Young Role Models

Dear Friend,

Last week I had the privilege to have some of our church’s young adults over for dinner. They brought a young man over whom I met for the first time about six years ago. He’s from New Zealand. I have to tell you that I’m not very easily impressed, but they all impressed me.

We’ve been hearing so many negative things about young people who have messed up in life that giving a good report has become rare. However, I saw the love of God displayed in this group in such a way that it brought in an excitement for the future. They are actively praying and seeking more of God. We are blessed. Amen.

There are several young people whom I’ve known for many years who have helped more people than you can imagine—from taking care of people’s yards, websites, letters that we write . . . I could go on and on. I’m so grateful that my son Levi has so many wonderful role models. I’m smiling.

Levi informed me the other day that the Bible is true! Glory to God! I’m smiling again. I love watching the young parents teach their children. During Sunday service, I saw a little girl holding a pretend microphone and singing during worship, imitating her mom who is one of our worship leaders. I love it. I know it blesses the Lord to see this. It sure does bless me.

To this day, I think the Lord would be pleased if we came to Him like a child, just as Jesus said in Matthew 18:1-5:

At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,

And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.

Isn’t the Lord wonderful? He wants us to be dependent on Him, so even if we’re eighty years old, we can still be a child. Hallelujah! The Lord always has our back, even when we make mistakes.

Children—unless they’ve been hurt—are usually trusting, forgiving, carefree, and so on. And that’s how we should be as born-again children of God. Amen. We couldn’t ask for a better Role Model than Jesus. He talked and walked with our Father all of the time.

At six years old, when Levi comes and tells me that he believes the Bible is true, it brings great joy to my heart. I also feel that way when I see and know so many young people are seeking God.

Jesus says in Third John 4: I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. Amen.

We need to be as little children—quick to love, quick to forgive, depending on our Father for everything.

My prayer is that we can truly come into the realization of how much our Father loves us.

In His love,

Donner Roberson
