First Love

Dear Friend,

Where would we be without the grace, mercy, and compassion of our Lord Jesus Christ? What Isaiah prophesied in chapter 61:1, Jesus fulfilled—the Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound. Amen. Jesus has delivered to us everything we need to be healed physically and emotionally.

First Peter 2:24 says: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. I know it’s hard emotionally to let go of things that have hurt you. Satan will constantly tell you that you are a victim, but if you refuse to let go of the hurt, it will show up at different times in your life and create havoc.

I think we have all had to overcome this. If Jesus could forgive the Roman soldiers who were crucifying Him, then we can forgive those who have hurt us as well, because Jesus lives in us—Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do (Luke 23:34a).

We can’t live in the past. If we keep hanging on to things that happened a long time ago, that refusal to let go and forgive will eventually ruin our relationships with people, and it can prevent our Lord from being able to heal us. Jesus loves us and wants us to be free.

Depending on how much something has affected us, it can be harder at times to forgive and let go, but we still need to let go of things that are toxic and destructive. No matter what we think, feel, or do, we will never be able to change the past. We can only do better in our future. Amen.

I don’t want to be a lukewarm Christian. Jesus said to the Laodicean church in Revelation 3:15,16:

I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

I want to walk in Jesus’ love, peace, and forgiveness. I want to live life with Him completely free from every hurt of the past.

In Revelation 2:2,3, Jesus listed all the good things that the Ephesian church was doing, but He said in verse 4: Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. We can live our life doing good things, but Jesus wants more than that. He wants us to draw closer to Him. He wants our fellowship. He wants to help us forgive, let go, and walk free. He wants us to remember that He is alive and well, that He is risen, and that above all else, He is our First Love!! Amen.

God bless you and praise God. What a mighty God we serve!

In His love,
