Dear Friend,
Can you believe it’s July already?! We are so blessed to be able to celebrate our day of independence which is better known as the Fourth of July.
When I was about eleven years old, I got to watch a Fourth of July parade. The flags, the horses, the bands, and floats—it was so awesome. However, I didn’t have any idea at that time what it cost to have the celebration. I’m talking about lives not money. How precious freedom is—the cost was blood.
Two definitions of precious from an online source says: (1) “of high price or great value; very valuable or costly;” (2) “highly esteemed for some spiritual, nonmaterial, or moral quality:”
I never thought of the Fourth of July in this way until I learned more of its history. We have a great nation! We have a wonderful, powerful God who has blessed this country beyond measure. I get so excited when I see our President and his staff praying and boldly proclaiming that Jesus is Lord and America will be great again. Thank you, Father God.
We have so much to be grateful for. Jesus, thank You for our freedom—the price You paid with Your blood for freedom. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for always being here to teach and comfort us. Amen.
I think celebrating Independence Day is a good thing, especially if you know why you’re celebrating. I think we should teach our children more so they can understand and appreciate how precious the cost of freedom is.
I thank God for all of the men and women who have protected our nation. God is restoring our nation back to Himself. Second Chronicles 7:14 says it best: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. I love it. Our Father always shows us how to succeed in Him.
Keep praying and don’t let your guard down. Freedom is worth it.
If you plan to celebrate this Fourth of July, please invite someone to your celebration who may not have family close by. God bless you all.
In His love,
Donner Roberson
